Currently I am interested in the implications and promise of recent research in neuroscience, child development and trauma which reveals that persistent highly adverse experiences damage the developing brain circuits of children. Whether from chronic conditions of poverty, stress, abuse, or singular events of violence or natural disasters, the damaging effects on the brain are the same. This interference with the development and function of the pre-frontal cortex is linked to negative economic, physical and mental health outcomes.

As the chaos of change increases we can expect more children to be impacted.

How can we help our children to be functioning at their highest capacities in turbulent times?
